From July 3 to 5, the Festival der Zukunft at the Deutsches Museum Munich becomes a hub for cutting-edge XR art and immersive technology. As part of MUNICH Beyond 2025, the festival presents a large-scale XR exhibition spanning over 500 square meters, featuring interactive performances, VR storytelling, and immersive installations by leading international creators. Visitors are invited to explore the creative potential of Extended Reality – from collective XR experiences that turn audiences into moving sculptures to cinematic narratives that blur the lines between film, theatre, and gaming. This showcase is part of a joint initiative by Festival der Zukunft, Filmfest München, XR HUB Bavaria, Residenztheater, and FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, bringing together award-winning projects and rising talents from Germany, Europe, and guest country Taiwan. In a special program track, Festival der Zukunft 2025 presents innovations, ideas, and visions of the future from Japan on stage and in our Experience Area - just in time for the EXPO 2025 world exhibition in Osaka, where everything revolves around innovations for a better future. ㅤ For decades, Japan has been a leading center for technology and science in the world. Robotics, computing, space exploration, mechanical engineering – in many industries, nothing works without innovations "Made in Japan." And when it comes to pop culture, Japan is also a true global player. Manga and anime captivate billions of people – and often offer a more nuanced understanding of technology and science than science fiction from the US or Europe.

The interactive demo builds on the Techno-Anima interactive installation by Daniel Heiss and Yannick Hofmann, in which visitors engage in dialogue with a multi-agent system. Building on this, we will explore how to design AI agents with different personalities and how language shapes their behavior. During the 45-minute session, participants will experiment with easy-to-use software to create agents with individual roles, temperaments, and goals. They will then observe how these agents interact with each other. What happens when empathetic, argumentative, or ironic agents meet? The demo provides an accessible introduction to a complex system inspired by Techno-Anima, enabling critical reflection, playful experimentation, and creative surprises.

While these dangers are real and pressing, this session explores the other side of the story: Can AI actually become a force for democratic renewal? Experts from diverse backgrounds will present bold, concrete ideas for using AI to support democratic values – from enhancing public administration and fostering inclusive policy-making to mediating conflicts and amplifying underrepresented voices. In einer 45minütigen sowie einer 60minütigen Session nehmen sie dich dabei mit hinter die Kulissen: Wie entstand AIME? Welche Herausforderungen warteten, welche Aha-Momente gab’s beim Entwickeln? Authentisch, direkt – ein bisschen Nähkästchen, viel Technik und Herz.
