Project IGGI: The History of AI Science in the Federal Republic of Germany

Scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) began in West Germany in the 1970s. It was
then that young scientists from various scientific disciplines became interested in US AI. The IGGI project uses not only archival sources but also oral interviews with about 40 AI pioneers of the time
to explore these beginnings of AI research in the Federal Republic of Germany. This presentation
gives a short insight into the work on this important project.
