Led by Lukas Werft & Christian Dils from Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM, System Integration and Interconnection Technologies Department, and Robin Hoske & Felix Rasehorn from WINT Design Lab

Lukas Werft, Christian Dils, Robin Hoske, and Felix Rasehorn lead the project to create sensitive textile interfaces. Their work pioneers liquid metal technology in smart textiles and soft robotics, enhancing user experiences and functionality across various sectors.

WINT is a Berlin-based Design Lab that serves as a platform where industry and research intersect. Led by industrial designers Robin Hoske and Felix Rasehorn, the Lab views design as a solution-oriented approach to thinking and doing. This methodology facilitates discussion, imagines alternatives, fosters decision-making, and ultimately drives change in industry and society. As such, the Design Lab continuously evolves its role in bridging the gap between industry and research.

Soft Interfaces - Innovative interaction systems with liquid metals

"Soft Interfaces" is an interdisciplinary research project developing intuitive interfaces for sensitive textiles. It focuses on integrating textiles with electrically conductive liquid metals to create stretchable, touch-sensitive surfaces that are functional, aesthetic, and adaptive. These interfaces enable reactive control and offer a novel tactile user experience, benefiting automotive, home textiles, and medical products.

The project is funded by the Fraunhofer Network Science, Art, and Design. We aim to promote interdisciplinary discourse between applied research, art, and design. Joint research projects, idea competitions, residencies, conferences and exhibitions bring together participants from various fields of knowledge, allowing new perspectives on complex social challenges to emerge.
