Wim De Waele obtained his Master Degrees in Economic and Computer Sciences at the University of Ghent in 1987. He started his career as scientific researcher at the university applying artificial intelligence technology to industrial applications. He continued to work in the field of intelligent planning at Siemens and Numetrix before joining i2 Technologies and moving to the US In the nineties. Upon his return to Europe, Wim became the founder and Chief Executive Officer at iMinds whose iStart accelerator was rated one of the top 3 university business incubators. He is currently executive chairman of the board of The Beacon, an AI innovation hub and board member of The Data Tank. He is also a co-founder and partner of the Miles Ahead Venture Studio for AI and Deep Tech.
