Marcel Weigand

Marcel Weigand began his career in 1999 as a speech therapist in a neurological clinic. After completing Public Health in Bielefeld he joined Germany’s Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) in 2005, focusing on inpatient quality assurance.

From 2007 onward, he held leadership roles in patient advocacy and healthcare transparency, including heading network management at UPD Germany and leading the Bertelsmann Foundation’s hospital comparison project Weisse Liste for nine years. Between 2019 and 2023, he served as Head of Digital Transformation and Partnerships at UPD Germany.
A certified auditor and quality management specialist (DGQ), Marcel is also a volunteer mentor for Health Science & Startups at the Berlin University Alliance and works as an independent moderator and healthcare consultant.
