Jan Wöpking

Jan Wöpking is the founding Managing Director of M1 – Munich Medicine Alliance, a landmark biomedical alliance uniting LMU Munich, TU Munich, their university hospitals, and Helmholtz Munich. M1's mission is to accelerate the translation of scientific excellence into real-world health innovation – connecting researchers, clinicians, industry, startups, and investors across one of Europe's most vibrant biomedical ecosystems. Jan has deep experience at the intersection of research, innovation, and policy. Previously, he served as Managing Director of German U15, the association of Germany's leading research-intensive universities. He has been named twice among the 100 most influential people in Germany's science landscape by Table Research (2024 and 2025).
