Frederick Klauschen

Frederick Klauschen is Professor of Pathology and Director of the Institute of Pathology, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich), fellow at the National AI Competence Center BIFOLD in Berlin and member of the steering board of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) in Munich. Since 2024 he is member of the directorate of the Bavarian Center for Cancer Research (BZKF) and the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.Prior to joining LMU, Prof. Klauschen served as deputy director of pathology at the Charité in Berlin, where he also completed his residency in anatomic and molecular pathology after his postdoctoral training in computational and systems immunology at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA. He obtained his MD at the University of Lübeck and a master’s degree in physics at the University of Hamburg. His research focuses on translational cancer research with an emphasis on lung cancer and the development and application of explainable artificial intelligence approaches integrating multi-modal imaging and molecular tumor profiling. He is co-founder of the Charité spin-off Aignostics that develops AI approaches for research and diagnostics.
