Carlos Härtel is an independent advisor to VCs and startups, primarily in the GreenTech space. Formerly, he was Chief Technology Officer at Climeworks AG, a Zurich-based growth company that develops, builds, and operates plants for atmospheric carbon removal.
Before Climeworks, Carlos served as CTO & Chief Innovation Officer for GE Europe. In addition, he was Director of GE’s European Technology Center in Garching near Munich, and President and CEO of GE Germany & Austria. Carlos studied Aerospace Engineering at RWTH Aachen and TU Munich, where he also received his doctorate. He spent several years in research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and at ETH Zurich. Carlos is past-President of the European Industrial Research Management Association (EIRMA).
